2012 Proton Saga 1.6 FLX SE With CVT Launched In Malaysia

The 2012 Proton Saga FLX SE, a new Saga 1.6 variant that comes with a CVT in place of the four-speed automatic gearbox, along with a number of exterior and interior changes, has been launched in Malaysia for RM 49,449 (solid colour, RM 450 more for the metallic colour), a premium of RM 2900 over the current Saga 1.6.

The Saga FLX SE borrows the CVT from the Saga 1.3, and the 1.6-litre Campro IAFM engine from the Gen2 and Persona. The new powertrain combination brings out 109 HP at 5750 rpm and 150 Nm at 4000 rpm, slight differences from the 111 HP at 6500 rpm and 148 Nm at 4000 rpm produced when the 1.6-litre engine is paired to the four-speed automatic. Proton claims that the Saga FLX SE accelerates four percent faster than before, with a fuel economy improved by four percent.

Available in metallic Fire Red or solid White, the exterior boasts new items including 15-inch alloy wheels, new fog lamps, smoked-effect rear combination lamps, and a factory-fitted full body kit. The Saga FLX SE's cabin is trimmed in leather, which covers the seats, steering wheel, gearshift lever, parking brake and door ornament.

Proton is targeting to sell around 500 units of the Saga FLX SE each month, out of an average monthly sales of 6500 units, which are made up mainly of the Saga 1.3. To help sales, Proton has granted a concession to buyers, who are awaiting deliveries of their Saga, to change their order to the Saga FLX SE. Enjoy the 2012 Proton Saga FLX SE official gallery below!
