One of the most luxurious convertibles in the market, the 2012 Bentley Continental GTC facelift version has appeared in Frankfurt, featuring a sharper, more sculpted styling, Mulsanne-inspired LED headlamps and standard 20" rims—all of which debut on the Continental GT coupe last year.
Like for the GT coupe, the leather-clad interior has been revamped to include a touch-screen infotainment system and thinner front seats said to improve rear room. A new acoustic package enhances cabin insulation. Buyers get to choose from a choice of 17 standard soft-touch leather hide colours and a range of seven veneers.
Bentley has endowed the refreshed GTC with 40 mm wider front/rear tracks, sharper steering response and a sportier suspension setup. The all-wheel drive system has been programmed to deliver torque with a 40/60 rear bias, compared with the current 50/50, to minimise understeer.
The revised GTC is not only 70 kg lighter than before, but its 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 produces an extra 15 hp and 50 Nm. The total output of 575 hp and 700 Nm, sent to all four wheels via an upgraded six-speed automatic gearbox, allows the GTC to complete the century sprint in 4.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 314 km/h.
