Frankfurt Motor Show: Maserati Kubang Concept
sponsored links
The roaring success of the Porsche Cayenne is simply too much to ignore, and the Maserati Kubang Concept is the Fiat-owned, Modena-based automaker's answer to that German. Following up on the Kubang Concept designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro which appeared at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show, the new Kubang Concept will be powered by a new generation of “Maserati proprietary engines”, to be built in Maranello by Ferrari, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
No technical details have been released at the moment, but we do know that the production Kubang will likely sit on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. To address the concern that the sharing of components and parts with Jeep will dilute Maserati's core brand values, the Italian firm reassures that the Kubang's “style, engine, suspensions, brakes, handling and performance” will be “100% Maserati”. Let's hope so.
