Frankfurt Motor Show: Jaguar C-X16 Concept

Unlike the C-X75 Concept which showed up in Paris last year, the Jaguar C-X16 Concept on display in Frankfurt is a two-seater, rear-wheel-drive sports car that will head into production, slotting below the XK to compete against the likes of the Porsche Cayman. Jaguar says that the C-X16 Concept's handsome exterior and aircraft-cockpit-inspired interior point to the future styling direction of all Jaguar sports cars.

Built atop a shortened version of the all-new XK's aluminium platform, the C-X16 Concept is powered by a 380 hp, 450 Nm 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine, which is mated to the familiar ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox with an integrated electric motor. 0-100 km/h comes up in 4.4 seconds and the top speed is in the region of 300 km/h. Pressing the steering-wheel mounted “Push to Pass” button provides a boost of 95 hp and 235 Nm, courtesy of the electric motor, that lasts for 10 seconds.
