Frankfurt Motor Show: Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

Alfa Romeo creates automotive art, and the stunning 4C Concept falls into that category again. Yes, it is still a concept and not the production-ready version of the 4C, a mid-engined, two-seater sports car that would be launched in 2012 according to the Italian automaker. The 4C Concept is wearing a “Fluid Metal” metallic silver in place of the matte red on the original 4C Concept which appeared in Geneva in March.

Alfa Romeo promises a tidy package of lightweight construction via the extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium, and high performance extracted from a 1.75-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a twin dry-clutch transmission. The 4C will have more than 200 horses to play with, sprinting the 0-100 km/h dash in “under five seconds” and hitting “over 250 km/h”, thanks in large part to the very low kerb weight of under 850 kg.
