2011 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport VGT Launched In Malaysia

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has launched the 2011 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport VGT, a more powerful and better-equipped version of the Pajero Sport seven-seater SUV. Priced at RM 171, 980 on-the-road including insurance, the fully-imported Pajero Sport VGT costs RM 5K more than the GS 4WD variant, a small increment for the extra features on offer MMM believes; in fact, the company is expecting the new value-buy variant to boost sales by 50 percent.
As its name suggests, the Pajero Sport VGT employs a variable geometry turbocharger to extract 42 horses and 36 Nm more from the 2.5-litre turbodiesel DI-D engine, producing a maximum of 178 PS and 350 Nm. The improvement of air flow to the engine through the use of variable vanes widens the peak torque band from 1800 rpm to 3500 rpm, compared with the previous 2000 rpm.
The new powertrain is further enhanced by a five-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode, one more gear ratio than in the GS 4WD and GL 2WD variants. Moreover, steering wheel-mounted magnesium paddle shifters are exclusive to the Pajero Sport VGT, as are redesigned leather seats and a 2-DIN full-colour touch-screen Kenwood entertainment system supplemented by GPS navigation.
