Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has facelifted the 2011 Nissan Latio and revised the B-segment model's variant lineup. The previous three variants (1.6 ST manual, 1.6 ST and 1.6 ST-L) of the Nissan Latio sedan have been cut down to a single 1.6 automatic variant priced at RM 89,800. The Nissan Latio Sport hatchback, previously sold as the 1.6 ST-L variant, is now available as a 1.8 automatic variant priced at RM 99,800. Prices include insurance and a free Solar Gard Armorcoat tinting package worth RM 1400.
Introduced for both the Nissan Latio sedan and hatchback is a revised front end with a new grille, headlamps and front bumper. Only the Latio hatchback gets updated taillights and rear bumper, however. There are no changes for the Latio sedan inside, but the Latio hatchback's RM 10K premium buys you steering wheel audio controls, a new audio head-unit with an auxiliary input, automatic air-conditioning, a new white background for the meter display, and instant/average fuel readings from the trip computer.
Like before, the Latio sedan is powered by the 1.6-litre HR16DE engine with 109 hp at 6000 rpm and 153 Nm at 4400 rpm. The more powerful Latio hatchback is able to draw on 126 hp at 5200 rpm and 174 Nm at 4800 rpm from the 1.8-litre MR18DE engine. Both equipped with a four-speed automatic gearbox, the Nissan Latio sedan and hatchback return official fuel economy figures of 14.1 km/litre and 12.8 km/litre, respectively.
