Jaguar Five-door Coupe Could Make Production By 2014

Credit to Tata Motors because Jaguar's future is looking more promising than when it was owned by cash-strapped Ford, with the launch of the great-looking XJ and the confirmation of a certain XE roadster as evidence. Now, news have emerged that a third model may be in the pipelines: a new five-door coupe codenamed RD7 that could well hit production by 2014. As nomenclature goes, the upcoming coupe would be based on the 2003 RD6 concept car (pictured above).

Reportedly, RD7 would share XF's platform, engines and components as much as possible, in order to maximise economies of scale and keep development costs down. The five-door coupe would also be positioned below XF, rather than above. Before you start saving up for the car, there is a good chance that only one of RD7 or XE roadster would make production.
