Honda Malaysia Trims 2011 Honda Insight Waiting Time, Plans New Hybrid Models

Honda Malaysia has announced that the 2011 Honda Insight's waiting time will be reduced from the present two to three months to less than a month. Booking has resumed from June 1, after a hiatus from April to May, coinciding with the recovery of the production of the Insight in Japan, which was struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11.
Launched at the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS), the Insight is still the cheapest hybrid in Malaysia despite a slight price increase to RM 99,800 from RM 98,000 (prices are on-the-road with insurance). The sub-RM 100K pricing is made possible by the excise duty exemption granted by the Malaysian government. More than 3000 units of the Insight have been delivered since its official introduction.
Moreover, Honda Malaysia plans to expand the local range of hybrid models by the end of 2011 to take advantage of the duty exemption and Malaysians' growing interest in hybrids. Possible candidates include the 2011 Honda CR-Z sports hybrid, the next-generation Honda Civic Hybrid and the 2011 Honda Jazz (Fit) Hybrid. Enjoy the 2011 Honda Insight photos from KLIMS 2010!
