The 2011 Isuzu D-Max has arrived with new exterior design touches, new exterior colours and a new cabin colour scheme, all of which have been introduced so that the locally-assembled D-Max can now appeal to a younger audience.
The distinctive front grille is unchanged but the front bumper gains a new bumper guard and chromed fog lamp bezels. The side steps and rear roll bar have been redesigned, and new six-spoke alloy wheels are now standard.
The cabin features a sportier black trim that covers the dashboard, door panels, pillars and headlining, while chrome accents on the air-conditioning vents, speaker bezels and gearshift surrounds lift the interior ambience.
Offered alongside the new Frosty White Solid and Space Black Metallic colours are the three existing colours: Galaxy Grey Metallic, Mercury Silver Metallic and Inferno Red Mica.
There are three diesel engines—the 79 hp and 176 Nm 2.5-litre 4JA1 engine; the 116 hp and 280 Nm 2.5-litre 4JK1 Super Commonrail engine; and the 136 hp and 294 Nm (280 Nm with manual gearbox) 3.0-litre 4JJ1 Super Commonrail engine. A platinum-coloured engine cover is now available across the range.
What the 2011 Isuzu D-Max's powertrains lack in power, they make up with uncanny fuel economy. Isuzu Malaysia recently organised the 2011 Dura-Miles Challenge, which involves driving three D-Max variants from Bangkok to Malacca, a total distance of 1501 km, using a single 76-litre tank of diesel.
