2011 All-New Perodua Myvi Restores Perodua's Top Spot On July Sales Chart

The 2011 all-new Perodua Myvi has helped the Rawang-based Perodua regain the number one spot on the sales chart from Proton, contributing 8500 units out of the total 16,500 units sold in July, which represent 32 percent market share of all sales in Malaysia.

The July sales figure is also an impressive 85 percent higher than Perodua's total sales of 8900 units in June, a month when the all-new Myvi has yet to be launched and the after-effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake were still lingering.

Even with 25,000 bookings and 10,000 delivered units of the new-generation Myvi barely two months after launch, Perodua is lowering its 2011 sales target from 195,000 units to 190,000 units, no thanks to the disruption brought on by the Japanese twin-disaster and the resulting shortage of key components including the electronic automatic transmission, electronic control unit, brake system and metallic paint pigment.
