Jenson Button took his second win of the 2011 Formula One season at the Hungarian Grand Prix, which happens to be the Briton's 200th Grand Prix. The dramatic win, secured by Button amidst tricky weather conditions, made it the second consecutive victory for McLaren after teammate Lewis Hamilton's win in Germany last weekend.
The McLaren duo overtook Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel who lost his pole position right from the start, and battled each other for most of the race. Hamilton led for long periods, but suffered a drive-through penalty and chose the wrong tyre strategy to negotiate slippery conditions towards the end of the race.
While Button benefited from his brilliant tyre call and crossed the finishing line first, Hamilton could only settle for fourth, behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in third and Vettel, who still managed second place despite an error-prone race by his high standards and fine form.
After 11 races, with eight races remaining, Vettel has 234 points, 85 points more than Red Bull teammate Mark Webber with 149 points. Hamilton has 146 points, Alonso is one point adrift, and Button is 12 points behind his teammate. In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull leads with 383 points, McLaren with 280 points, followed by Ferrari with 215 points.
