Volkswagen Malaysia has launched the 2011 Volkswagen Eos that now wears a facelift, bringing its front end in line with the 2011 Volkswagen Golf Mk6, and the world's first CSC (Coupe-Sunroof-Cabriolet) roof. Nothing comes free of course, and the new four-seater Eos is priced at RM 257,888, a slight premium over its previous RM 249,888 price tag.
Volkswagen claims that the Eos' five-piece CSC roof system offers qualities of a coupe, a convertible, and in between with an integrated tilt-or-slide glass sunroof. Pressing a switch located on the centre console, the fully-automatic roof retracts in 25 seconds. A windbreak prevents air turbulence at the occupants' neck level, and a roll-over protection system activates in just 0.25 second.
New exterior items include 18-inch “Chicago” alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 R18 self-sealing Mobility tyres, and LED Direct Running Lights (DRL). Inside, the RNS510 navigation system with TFT touch-screen display, a 30-GB hard disk, an SD card reader, a DVD drive, and a multi-function, multi-colour display are all new to the 2011 Volkswagen Eos.
The powertrain now uses the 2.0-litre turbocharged, direct-injected TSI engine, paired to a six-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission. The revised engine produces 210 hp between 5300–6200 rpm and 280 Nm between 1700–5200 rpm. The pre-update engine had 200 hp at 5100 rpm and 280 Nm between 1700-5000 rpm.
