2011 BMW M5 Most Likely Powered By 4.4-litre V8 Turbo

You are looking at a spyshot of the 2011 BMW M5. Sure, the front end is heavily camouflaged, but hey, something is better than nothing. While the fact that the new M5 will be launched in 2011 is confirmed, little else is known about the super-sedan's powerplant. Rumours are aplenty, but concrete facts are few.
However, news have now emerged from within the BMW camp that the current 5.0-litre V10 will be dropped in favour of a turbocharged V8. While the “insiders” refused to comment further, it is only logical that the 4.4-litre V8, currently used by BMW X5 M and X6 M, will be powering the new M5. Generating 555 hp and 678 Nm, the twin-turbo V8 would provide 48 more horses over the current V10.
