2011 All-New Audi A8 Launched In Malaysia

The 2011 all-new Audi A8 has been launched in Malaysia by official distributor Euromobil. Audi's flagship model positioned against the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the fourth-generation A8 is only available as a 3.0 TFSI long-wheelbase variant that is priced at RM 658,800 (OTR without insurance).

Looking much like a larger, longer version of the Audi A6, the latest A8's styling, spearheaded by optional full LED headlamps, may be elegant in isolation and consistent with the rest of the Audi family, but it lacks the visual differentiation that customers in this high-end market segment would demand.

Underneath the metal, however, the A8 is all standout technology: the highly advanced aluminium Audi Space Frame (ASF), weighing about 40 percent less than a comparable steel structure, makes up the entire A8 body.

Providing the motivation is a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine, which produces 290 hp between 4850-6500 rpm and 420 Nm between 2500-4850 rpm. With the generated power going to the four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system, there is enough pace to complete the century sprint in 6.2 seconds, and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.

The standard Audi Drive Select system, offering added driving autonomy through the Comfort, Auto and Dynamic modes, adjusts the settings of the adaptive air springs, adaptive damping, engine response, transmission shift points and steering assistance, depending on which mode you choose.

The long-wheelbase A8 is 13 cm longer in wheelbase compared with the normal-wheelbase A8, and hence comes with more rear legroom and longer rear doors for better ingress and egress. Also contributing to the interior comfort is the MMI system with a touch pad, 8" colour LCD screen, 6-disc DVD/CD changer, and BOSE surround sound system with a 12-channel amplifier, 14 loudspeakers and 600-watt total output.

Some other notable standard equipment includes automatic range-adjusting xenon headlamps, reverse camera, electric seat adjustment for front seats and rear passenger seats, leather upholstery, leather multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles, LED ambient lighting, and four-zone automatic climate control. Safety wise, there are eight airbags and an Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) that oversees the braking and traction controls. Enjoy the 2011 Audi A8 gallery below!
