2011 MINI Countryman Officially Launched In Malaysia

The 2011 MINI Countryman has been officially launched in Malaysia, completing the range of MINI models available locally. The Cooper Countryman goes home with you for RM 248,888, while the Cooper S Countryman is pricier at RM 285,888 (prices exclude insurance).

Powered by a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated Prince engine, with 122 hp at 6000 rpm and 160 Nm at 4250 rpm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the Cooper Countryman sprints from rest to 100 km/h in 11.6 seconds, before hitting a maximum speed of 182 km/h.

Thanks to the addition of the twin-scroll turbocharging, direct injection and BMW's Valvetronic variable valve management system to the powertrain, the Cooper S Countryman has 184 hp at 5500 rpm and 240 Nm between 1600-5000 rpm (260 Nm on overboost between 1700-4500 rpm), providing it with enough oomph to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.3 seconds, and top out at 205 km/h.

The Cooper S Countryman is not only the first MINI to offer turbocharging, direct injection and Valvetronic all at once, it is also the first MINI to feature the All4 four-wheel-drive system, which can transmit 100 percent of the generated power to either the front or rear axles. Incidentally, the Countryman is also the first MINI to provide the convenience of five doors (hatch included) and generous storage space ranging from 350 litres to 1170 litres.

Staying true to how a MINI is all about personalisation: the Countryman is available with a choice of 11 exterior colours and an interior combining carbon black with a choice of Pure Red or Light Tobacco. On top of the standard alloy wheels (17" for Cooper, 18" for Cooper S), automatic climate control, an audio system with CD player, and stability control (traction control only for Cooper S), the Countryman can be ordered with the glass roof package and/or the MINI Connected package.

The RM 9,988 glass roof package gives you a panoramic glass roof with one-touch operation and remote operation via the radio-remote control key. The RM 14,988 MINI Connected package brings a 10-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, a 6.5" colour LCD screen, and the first-ever web radio function that gives drivers the choice of radio stations from around the globe.
