Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck Unveiled In Thailand

The Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck has been revealed ahead of its official unveiling at the Bangkok International Auto Show. This concept car hints strongly at the 2011 Chevrolet Colorado which will be launched in Thailand later this year. Unlike the previous-generation Colorado, a rebadged Isuzu D-MAX, the all-new Colorado will likely be exported from Thailand to Malaysia under the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA).
Chevrolet has selected Thailand as the venue for unveiling the Colorado not only because Thailand is the country where the truck is built, but because Thailand is the largest market for mid-size trucks. General Motors-owned Chevrolet says that engineers working on the development of the Colorado took to great lengths to observe how the Thais use their trucks on a daily basis, and so the end product should cater to local needs very well.
The Colorado Show Truck looks striking, thanks to a broad, muscular stance, 20" aluminium wheels, a chiseled bonnet and an eye-catching dual-port grille that sandwiches the famous Chevrolet logo. LED lighting elements, a must-have for new cars and trucks alike, are used in the headlamps and tail lights. The wraparound dash design, centrally-positioned 7" LCD display, leather upholstery, interesting instrument panel design and Ice-Blue lighting add up to an attractive, inviting cabin.
The question is how many of the attractive bits seen on the Colorado Show Truck are subtracted on its way to being production-ready. The ladder frame AWD chassis and 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine (technical details not released yet) should make it through to production with no hiccups, however. More official details and photos to come your way soon!
