Geneva Motor Show: Audi A3 Sedan Concept

This handsome piece of metal on display at the Geneva Motor Show is the Audi A3 Sedan Concept, a car that previews the 2013 A3 four-door sedan that will join the current A3 three/five-door hatchbacks and the A3 cabriolet.

At 4.44 m, the A3 Sedan Concept is 260 mm shorter than the current A4 sedan, and uses the same 408 hp, 500 Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged, direct-injected five-cylinder engine powering the RS3 Sportback. Motivation goes to all four wheels via the Quattro 4WD system and the seven-speed S-tronic transmission.

Based on the same chassis underpinning the RS3, the A3 Sedan Concept puts up a supercar performance, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds, before topping out at an electronically-controlled 250 km/h. Fuel economy is reasonable at 11.0 km/litre and carbon emissions are an acceptable 212 grams/km.
