Geneva Motor Show: 2012 Toyota Prius+ Seven-Seater MPV
sponsored links
Toyota has officially introduced the Prius+ at the Geneva Motor Show. The very first full-hybrid seven-seater to go on sale across Europe upon launch in early 2012, the Prius+ offers three second-row seats that fold individually and two third-row seats that 50/50 split-fold. For comparison sake, the U.S. market has the 2012 Toyota Prius V MPV that comes with more room and 970 litres of cargo capacity, but remains a five-seater.
The Prius+ is the first non-plug-in Toyota hybrid to use lithium-ion batteries, in place of nickel-metal hydride batteries powering the standard Prius. No technical details were announced, though the drag coefficient of 0.29 and the adoption of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive System (HSD) should translate into excellent fuel economy.
