The all-new Volvo S60 will be launched sometime in March 2011, Volvo Car Malaysia has confirmed. Going up against the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be two fully-imported variants of the S60, the T5 and T6. Local assembly and the consequent lowering of prices will follow in the third quarter of 2011.
With an indicative pricing of RM 290K, the S60 T5 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 203 hp at 6000 rpm and 300 Nm between 1750–4000 rpm. The S60 T6, to cost an indicated RM 350K, uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine generating 304 hp at 6500 rpm and 440 Nm between 2100–4200 rpm.
Expect the full suite of luxury features and Volvo's latest safety technology including Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Roll Over Protection System (ROPS), City Safety—a system that automatically brakes and stops the car when necessary to avoid low-speed collisions, and Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB)—a system that alerts the driver with visual and audible signals when approaching another car, before automatically applying the brakes if needed.
More finalised details will come your way in around a month's time. For now, read about the S60's full details and view five videos of the S60. The photos in the gallery are of the 2011 S60 at the Geneva Motor Show held in March 2010.
