Styling

The Peugeot 207 looks like a grown-up 206, incorporating styling cues from both the 206 and 307. The front end is handsome yet familiar, dominated by swept back headlamps and an aggressive grille. In a stark contrast to the handsome 207 hatchback, the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC however looks disproportionate no thanks to the rumpy rear end.

Handling

The 2010 Peugeot 207 CC strikes a fine balance between ride-and-handling. Combining respectable grip levels, sound body control and decent agility, the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC is good to drive. The steering is light and easy for city driving and weighs up well at higher speeds, but lacks sufficient feedback for true driving involvement. The chassis is stiff enough to resist the much-feared scuttle shake, and a longer wheelbase than in the 206 also means a more comfortable ride over road imperfections.

Comfort

With the metal roof in place, engine and road noise pose little concern while cruising, but wind noise is relatively noticeable; roof down, the cabin din is still acceptable. Unlike in the 206, the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC's cabin provides plenty of room and steering/seating adjustments for the driver. The seats are supportive over longer trips, too. While the controls are logically laid out on the centre console, they are too small and hard to read. Primary driving controls are ergonomically placed, though.

Quality + Reliability

The cabin looks and feels like a quality item. Fit-and-finish are paid much attention, but closer inspection reveals that some dashboard plastics are hard, although they do not look cheap and shiny. On the outside, the tight shutlines throughout, weighty doors and solid paintwork add to the overall impression of quality. Much of the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC's underlying mechanicals are shared with other Peugeot models, and should therefore prove to be reliable in the longer term.

Performance

The 2010 Peugeot 207 CC comes with a 1.6-litre producing 118 bhp at 6000 rpm and 160 Nm at 4250 rpm, with the majority of the torque available from just 2000 rpm. Paired to the engine is a four-speed Tiptronic Porsche gearbox, and together, the drivetrain puts in a smooth, willing and strong performance on the roads.

Roominess

The driver and front passenger enjoy ample head- and leg-room, at the expense of the rear however, as the rear seats are too upright and offer legroom adequate only for children. There is no lack of cabin storage areas, and at the touch of a button, the metal roof folds neatly in 25 seconds. The boot capacity ranges from 449 litres when the roof is in place, to 187 litres with the roof folded.

Running Costs

Fuel economy of 13.9 km/litre is good, while servicing and repairs should be reasonably priced too. Depreciation could however be the biggest running cost of all, as the Peugeot brand is hardly the most reliable or the most desirable. That said, being in relatively small supply and without competitors will surely help the Peugeot 207 CC fetch better resale prices.

Value for Money

The 2010 Peugeot 207 CC is the only convertible offering topless fun in the small family segment, and is the only one doing so under RM 200K. In fact, no convertible, hard-top or soft-top, comes close in terms of pricing. Without competition and well-priced, the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC provides excellent value for the money if you are looking for a convertible.

Equipment

Standard equipment includes 17" alloy wheels, fog lamps, automatic headlamps, dual zone air conditioning, air-conditioned glovebox, electrically adjustable and folding side mirrors, electric windows, remote central locking, radio/MP3/CD audio system with auxiliary input, six speakers, and four airbags.

Environment

The 173 grams/km carbon dioxide emissions and 13.9 km/litre fuel economy rank the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC as one of the cleanest and most efficient convertible in Malaysia. So if you are looking for topless fun, the 2010 Peugeot 207 CC is the “green” way to go.
