2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso at a glance
Unique on the outside, clever on the inside, and decent on the road, the 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is a convincing package from the quirky French automaker. But it is priced above rivals—reason enough for many to give it a miss.

Styling
The 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso looks visually imposing, and very different from the more common MPVs we have on our roads. Indeed, substantial French flair was involved when penning the sleek looks and intricate details. The 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is styled to maximise light into the cabin, using large windows, panoramic windscreen and sunroof, making the interior feel airy and spacious. The dashboard is just as unconventional as the exterior, with a stylish, minimalist design.
Handling
The 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is tuned for family-oriented comfort, and to no surprise, its handling is confident but not agile. Cornering can be carried out with composure, although the significant body lean will discourage most drivers from pushing too hard. Grip levels are good and the light steering helps in crowded city driving and parking, if only it provides more useful feedback.
Comfort
Optimised for comfort, the soft suspension absorbs most bumps with little trouble. Refinement is similarly high on the list with the smooth engine and minimal wind and road noise intrusion into the cabin. More of a concern would be the suspension noise over bumps. Adjustments are plentiful for drivers to get comfortable. With large windows and slim windscreen pillars, all-round visibility is excellent. And when combined with the good ergonomics, the cabin becomes a nice place to be in.
Quality + Reliability
The interior quality standard has improved by leaps and bounds from previous Citroen models. The classy ambience is accompanied by quality materials, consisting of soft-touch plastics, and impressive fit-and-finish. According to JD Power customer satisfaction surveys, Citroen as a brand has scored well for its reliability, and the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, which has impressed us with regards to the improved quality, should also be reliable in the long run.
Performance
Powered by a 2.0-litre engine putting out 143 bhp and 200 Nm, the 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso gives decent performance on the road, with sufficient horsepower for daily activities including that occasional overtaking. The cultured engine is, however, paired to Citroen's dated automatic transmission which has only four speeds.
Roominess
Although classified as a mid-size MPV, the 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso crosses over into the larger-size segment with its interior space. The front two rows seat five in comfort, while the third row enjoys generous legroom by segment standards. The loading space is still fine with all the seats in place, and can be maximised with different seating combinations through sliding and folding. There are plenty of storage compartments and clever features that showcase Citroen's thoughtfulness.
Running Costs
Fuel economy is average by segment standards. Maintenance costs could be higher than competition's with, thus far, limited spare parts on the market. Road tax and insurance should be acceptable for buyers, however depreciation will benefit little from the Citroen brand name or limited spare parts availability.
Value for Money
This mid-size MPV sector is packed with plenty of competitors. From the popular Toyota Wish and Honda Stream, to the budget Naza Citra or Nissan Grand Livina, it is hard to stand out, unless of course Toyota or Honda badges are on the cars. The 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso may proffer a convincing package overall, but the higher price tag may be more than enough reason for Malaysians to stick to the norm.
Equipment
The five-star Euro NCAP rated Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is fitted with nine airbags (two front, two front-side, two side, two curtain and one driver-knee), electronic stability program and anti-lock braking system. Buyers can choose from ten body colours, while dual zone climate control with air vents for all three rows, cruise control, automatic parking brake, and automatic headlamps and wipers come as standard.
Environment
Emitting 190 g/km of carbon dioxide is good if there are constantly seven people on board, as opposed to having more cars on the roads. Compared to Japanese counterparts, that figure is merely average.
