Styling
Massive but not head-turning, the 2010 Bentley Continental GT certainly is not the prettiest in the Bentley range or when compared to other grand tourers such as the Aston Martin DB9. For a car this price we expect more exterior detailing. But at least we get massive road presence with its sheer bulk, that alone will grab attention. Old-school design meets modern amenities in the classy cabin, with leather and wood being the order of the day. The hand-built dashboard is stylishly yet functionally laid out.
Handling
The four-wheel-drive system and adjustable air suspension enable the 2010 Bentley Continental GT to maneuver in a sporty way. It does not have the agility of a sports car for sure, but get the measure of the car and it can be handled decently. Overall, a good balance is struck between providing comfort, its key purpose, and having good control. Drive down a twisty road, and you will find that modern technology can only mask the massive mass to a certain extent.
Comfort
The 2010 Bentley Continental GT is built for one purpose: providing maximum comfort. With an ideal driving position and cosseting seats, the driver and front passenger can travel in first-class comfort. Only the most battered roads will unsettle the ride, but composure at speed is excellent. Big tyres generate some road noise, which the pillarless side windows fail to completely block out. The 6.0-litre engine is extremely silent at steady speed.
Quality + Reliability
While the 2010 Bentley Continental GT gets many components from the Volkswagen Phaeton, let's not start thinking the quality is inferior. After all, the Phaeton is Volkswagen's flagship sedan. The quality of the leather-and-wood filled cabin is exemplary. The standard of fit-and-finish is similarly excellent. Volkswagen- and Audi-sourced components should be reliable.
Performance
Towering, astonishing, off-the-scale are all some appropriate descriptions of how this 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine delivers its power. No need to fear getting caught in any gear, there is plenty of power and torque and then some. Overtaking is effortless. Although almost two-and-a-half tonne, the 2010 Bentley Continental GT's acceleration is almost supercar-like. Top speed nears the legendary 200 mph (320 km/h). The six-speed automatic gearbox is smooth and responsive.
Roominess
The driver and front passenger get plenty of space as this car was built for them. Rear seats are for small adults, kids, or luggage. The 2010 Bentley Continental GT is as practical a super-coupe you can get out there with the relatively decent rear seats and big boot for long-distance travelling.
Running Costs
The running costs really should not be an issue. If it is, the 2010 Bentley Continental GT is not for you. The fuel consumption is understandably high with the 6.0-litre W12 engine. Any servicing or repair is likely to cost a bomb, but since the owner will be rich, at least the pockets won't be burnt. The insurance premium is also exorbitant.
